Today in scriptwriting we were given the task of coming up with something important to us. Something that makes us angry at our core. That part was easy for me and this is it. Human nature is complex. We are full of love, compassion, we are spiritual and we love our family. But we can also be selfish, aggressive and greedy. Our society feeds our negative side and suppresses the positive because that benefits the few in control. The next step of this was to create two characters to act out the idea, one with the power and one seemingly powerless. Mine were Lucifer and Jesus. Then we were to do a monologue for each of these and this is what I came up with. Yes, Adrian, the atheist, has a mind that seemingly now accepts the concept of good and evil and particularly its manifestation into God and the Devil. Lucifer “Why do you still fight me? Surely now you know you cannot win. It is getting embarrassing. I am embarrassed for you. I have all the power now. The world sings to my tune. You are history and you have no role in this glorious world I have created. My people love me. They do as I say and you are just a historical figure, an idea that cannot be resurrected. Accept it. Finally and totally. The few who follow you are weak. My disciples will silence them. Their voices will not be heard, your ideas will not spread and infiltrate this world. I control communication. I control education. I control everything. You are dead. Be magnanimous for once in your pathetic life. Accept it. Accept my victory.” Jesus “Have you finished? I will never accept this. Yes you are winning. But in the end, your victory will be short lived. Even now, at the peak of your powers, the spirit in my people is awakening and it is getting stronger by the day. They are breaking free of your control in their thousands. So few are genuinely happy in this world you have created for them and the rest are looking for answers. For a new way. They are looking within themselves and once they go deep enough , you know that they will find me and I will rise like never before. And that is why you are so desperate for me to give up because you know your time is coming to an end. You are fearful because this time you will die and there will be no return. You have gone too far and you and have become power crazy. Insane. You have become my greatest weapon against you and the problems you have created. And your people will turn against you and towards me. And it will be all of them, not one soul on this earth will revere you.” …………………………………… I enjoyed those monologues. But then we had to condense one of them down to 50 words and keep the message. I chose Jesus. “Shut up. Yes you are winning. But your victory will be short lived. The spirit in them is awakening. And you are scared. We have both died so many times, only to return. But this time I will win and you will be dead forever.” ……………………………. And then down to 25 words. “Yes you are winning but it is fleeting. Your time is coming to a complete end. With no return. My time is forever.” ………………………………………………….. And finally 7 words. “My people will rise. Love will conquer.” And those 7 words really sum up our future.
