Today is 13th October, 2014 = IDDR = INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DISASTER REDUCTION. AMC Fire & Emergency Services has made association with Ace Creative Edutech & Gloria -Glory of Art to put message across to our society about safety, prevention, awareness and about knowledge sharing. To give unique way of message, the idea is to make a live fire mock drill & an exhibition cum competition of related drawing & painting that will be reflecting all areas of concern on paper and canvas. Very successful events has been done at the campus of Anand Niketan, satellite school in which one Live Mock Drill done by Ahmedabad Fire & Emergency Services. Students of different schools like Hiramani school, Zydus school of excellence, New Tulip International school etc,. has participated for the live mock drill. Poster Making & Essay Writing exhibition event also took place after the mock drill. Prizes awarded to the students for their innovative ideas and creativity at the end of the event. About IDDR The International Day for Disaster Reduction started in 1989 with the approval by the United Nations General Assembly. The UN General Assembly sees International Day as a way to promote a global culture of disaster reduction, including disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. Originally celebrated on the second Wednesday of October, the UN General Assembly decided in 2009 to designate October 13th as the date to celebrate IDDR. The International Day for Disaster Reduction is a day to celebrate how people and communities are reducing their risk to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of DRR. Its also a day to encourage every citizen and government to take part in building more disaster resilient communities and nations.
