Today is Australia Day. There was talk that everybody would be standing at midday to sing the national anthem.... 24 million people singing together; and at midday to ensure most of them are still reasonably sober. But Im not sure the idea is going to catch on. Theres something about our national anthem that makes it just a tad less than awesome. The title for starters.. Australia Fair and then theres that clever line girt by sea. I dont know anybody who knows the second verse. While I think were stuck with these shortcomings there could be something done to make the whole thing a bit more exciting. Im reviving the push started a while ago to put some oomph in the song.
