Birthday Tribute to Elder Sales August 27 Eighty-three years have quickly taken flight A wondrous tale they took time to write At a humble church came a call for prayer Surrendered sin you could no longer bear With wedding plans only two weeks away A bride with decisions she had to weigh You agreed that your love was strong enough Though the road ahead might be some times rough A fiery young man with a call to preach In a world of souls needing to be reached In Haughton one night gave the invitation That bride stepped out made her consecration Called to a city in need of a light A place where Satan would put up a fight A church was built and carved out of the rock Sacrifice made to build a thriving flock Young lives forged through Christian education Transparent love as a strong foundation A labor of love to those in great need How lives were changed as you planted the seed Determination will always succeed Trials never caused you to think to concede The driving force was a love for the lost Results in willingness to pay the cost There are ups and downs as with any call Dismay and discouragement I recall Dedication would have to be the word That kept you in Lewisville undeterred They would have to say you were built to last For when trials and storms everyone had passed Secured by the Savior and faith in God All those who observed were impressed and awed To inspect your life is to find much fruit An excellent spirit is at the root The fruit of the Spirit always displayed Communion with Jesus voiced when you prayed Memories treasured by those you have shaped A path to heaven for us you have staked We want you to know we appreciate And today your birthday we celebrate Love, Mike Sales
