Today is CPS board meeting. Two people who wont be there are Rousemary Vega and her husband Jesus Ramos, according to a DNAinfo story. They and two other men are the first people to be banned from CPS board meetings under a 2013 rule change. Vega and her husband caused a commotion at the July board meeting after she became incensed that board member Jesse Ruiz left the meeting. Probably CPS lawyers have checked to make sure the district is within the law before banning Vega. But many will be even more frustrated if CPS starts banning fiery speakers on a regular basis. It begs the question: Is it ever right to ban dissidents from speaking in a public meeting in a democracy?
