Today is Columbus Day. Neither Columbus who was from Genoa, or America Vespucci who the Americas are named after, were Italian. Columbus is blamed for the death of the Indians on the mainland yet he never stepped foot on the American continent. The US war on the Indians did not start till later, in sheer numbers there werent enough of an army to kill them. What killed most Indians in the new world was zoonosis, the transfer of microbes from animals to humans. We all simply want to remember history how it serves us best.
