Today is Columbus Day where we celebrate an Italian working for the Spanish crown. When he originally conned the queen of Spain to find his expedition to open a western sea route to India he instead found Barbados and never actually touched main land America. North America was previously discovered by Leif Ericsson but no permanent settlement was made. Why people claim he discovered America is unknown to me as it was already inhabited by Indian tribes.
