Today is Day 4 of Winter Weather Awareness Week! Freezing Rain can be even more treacherous than snow because the ice can weigh down trees and power lines causing widespread power outages and loss of communication. Both sleet and freezing rain can also make road conditions hazardous. Sleet and freezing rain develop in similar situations, but the following graphic will explain the difference. Do not travel unless it is absolutely necessary. If you must travel make sure your gas tank is full and bring essentials such as a first aid kit and sand or cat litter to provide traction.
