Today is Easter. Today I had plans to utilize this FREE DAY and catch up on tons of work that has been sitting undone for the past 5 months. Emails and messages to return. Work on my screenplay. Casting jobs that are coming up. Preparing for a YOLI gathering tommorrow. I was beginning to feel the weight of the stress of NORMAL life coming back. GOD HAD ANOTHER PLAN. Instead, I spent the morning in the ER getting rehydrated and medicated for a virus that I picked up with a vengeance due to my low immune system and white blood cell count. I had been up all night long throwing up and with severe bone pain...AGAIN! This was not how I wanted to spend Easter...alone in my room unable to eat or drink much without vomiting. However, because I was forced to rest today and stay home in bed with no Chocolate bunnies, or Easter Baskets or free time to run around and get work done....HERE IS WHAT I DID. I prayed quite a bit. I slept to replenish my body that I had clearly worn down. I read my Bible a bit and thought a lot about something that happened last night. As my sister drove us home last night after the film shoot at 1 AM, we were chatting about how busy life can become so quickly. She said one of her favorite quotes was... If the Devil cant make you sin...He makes you busy! I thought about how true this is. How we draw so close to God in times of need but when life starts to feel good again we forget HE is there. We stop relying on HIM. I fell asleep as we drove through the night. I was exhausted. I had misjudged my healing curve and over extended myself a bit. I was able to fall asleep knowing my sister was getting me safely home even though she was exhausted herself. I woke up every 15 minutes or so on the hour and half drive and saw her struggling to stay awake as well. Rolling down the window. Turning up the air conditioning in an attempt to keep herself awake...I was so tired...I could not stay awake to keep her company. She didnt even ask...she just kept driving us safely home. This is what God does for us and what he calls us to do for others. He drives us safely through the night and watches over us so we can be at peace knowing someone has got the wheel. Thank you Farrah Kurtenbach Ketron and Jenny Fuller Henderson for spending Easter morning in the ER with me, but more importantly, for reminding me what EASTER is really all about. SACRIFICE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SERVITUDE. That article today in the paper is lovely, however, perhaps slightly inaccurate. I am NOT the hero here. It is all MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY who SACRIFICE for me as I navigate this journey. They are the ones who deserve the accolades more than I. Thank you all for your love, forgiveness and servitude that I certainly do not deserve. I am so grateful to feel so very loved by you all. I WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL EASTER FILLED WITH RENEWAL, COURAGE AND FORGIVENESS!
