Today is Equal Pay Day, symbolizing when, more than three months into the year, womens wages finally catch up to what men were paid last year. This is one holiday I hope to never again celebrate. Equality is achievable, but Congress needs to act to put in place the systems of support that help women and families succeed: raising the minimum wage, funding affordable child and health care, and passing the Paycheck Fairness Act, of which I am a cosponsor.
