Today is Good Friday. Though Bible does not emphasize the pain of the cross. Rather the Gospel portrays the SHAME of the Cross. It was the degradation and stripping of dignity from the crucified One that horrified the Roman world. Jesus embraced the shame and that is the scandal of the Cross. I want to encourage you today to reflect upon the shame. Our paintings of the Cross are made for our religious sensitivities and not very accurate. Jesus had no clothes on ... today is Good Friday not bc death is good but bc Jesus embraced the shame. Just a thought.
