Today is Memorial Day. I want to thank my Grandfathers for their service in WW1 and WW2, My father N.F. Pennington for his service in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. Many thousands of hours in the air in actual combat (Helicopters and U-21 fixed wing. ) The things these men have seen so that the rest of us dont have to see are still something few who have endured will even discuss. Our freedom has been paid for in their blood shed in places many today cant even find on a map. My grandfather was a message runner in WW1.. he would run on top of the trenches under intense fire to deliver communications. My father would fly a helicopter into a LZ that was under heavy enemy fire to bring out our wounded. Today my son Aaron Pennington LTjg serves in the USN as an intelligence officer following a proud tradition in our family of service to our God and our country. My wife, is Dept of Defense soon to retire, working in our space program. though not in the armed forces she has served our country for over 30 years now. My eldest son, serves differently but an even higher cause as a missionary in Papua New Guinea. To each and every one of you who have served i want you to know i am grateful, to those who have gave everything I never forget, for those families who have lost those heros who were serving our nation, i thank you for raising such amazing young men and women. Thank you.
