Today is National Migrants Sunday. Let us pause for a moment to give proper notice and importance to our OFWs - all our kababayans working abroad who sacrifice a lot just so they could support their families here. Not all OFWs are lucky. Yes there are some who made a name while working in a foreign land. However, we know the stories of many especially those domestic helpers who everyday risk their life and limb for a measly amount not even enough to support their families. Who could forget Flor Contemplacion and Sarah Balabagan? In a moment of silence let us pray for all OFWs, the so-called modern day heroes becoz of what they contribute to our economy. Let us pray that they will be able to work with dignity and respect from their employers. Let us pray for their safety and let us pray that the sacrifices they are doing for their respective families and their country will be properly acknowledged and rewarded in time. To the families of our OFWs - let us not put to waste these sacrifices by doing our share. Let us not do anything that may give them problems and worries, especially emotional ones. Napakahirap po ng malayo sa pamilya. We salute all OFWs. Mabuhay po kayong lahat.
