Today is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor the thousands of American soldiers who died or were injured in Hawaii and Guam during the surprise attack by Japanese forces on December 7, 1941. President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed a date which will live in infamy in his speech to the U.S. Congress the following day: Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. As a result of the attack in which 2,400 soldiers lost their lives, the U.S. declared war on Japan and entered World War II in both the Asian and European campaigns. Millions of soldiers and civilians sacrificed so that our democratic way of life would be preserved. We owe it to the Greatest Generation who pulled together to win the war. We are thankful and will never forget their incredible achievements. (PsychicServices-FrankMichel)
