Today is RUOK day in Australia. A day where we check in with - TopicsExpress

Today is RUOK day in Australia. A day where we check in with people and ask that simple question so people know they are thought of, are given a chance to share if needs and know they are not alone. I had not realised it was today so my next post sharing my blog post for today (all about loving life right now) is especially amazing to me. My first RUOK day post was in 2011 after blogging for only one month. I reached a low point that night. I linked up my heartfelt post with over a hundred others who were supposedly asking the same question, yet not one person came over to comment on my post. I was already in a struggle point and that was about to send me over the edge. Then an amazing thing happened. Bron from Maxabella loves commented simply asking RUOK? I had connected with her right from the start of blogging but was not sure what to say. Instead of replying there I took a chance and emailed her and poured my heart out. She listened, replied and we became even better friends. I have been to her home in Sydney, she has hired me for writing in the past and I will always be grateful to have her in my life. Today I am in such a different place after decades of struggling with depression and anxiety. I have hiccups like anyone else still (even on meds) but know I would fight the demons rather than give in now. I shake my head to get them to shut up, I use positive self talk, I blog, I share, I give love to others. A million ways for me to keep fighting the demons, but honestly being asked if I am ok will always be the best weapon I know. Having someone care, ask, listen and love will always be a way to help others who are fighting their demons alone. Here is my first post from September 2011. Please ask at least one person today RUOK? homelifesimplified.au/r-u-ok-day-asking-one-question-may-be-all-it-takes/
