Today is SHARAD POONAM, the autumn moon, it is celebrated as KOJAGORI POORNIMA. Today is dedicated to the Woman of the house. A newly wed bride is welcomed as GRIHALAXMI, the household living Goddess by her mother in law as per Hindu tradition. It is said that a man makes a house, it is the woman who makes it a home. The keys to the Household Locker is always with the Wife because our ancient rishis realized that women understand money better than men. As per the seven vows, the husband hands over his earnings to his wife and it is she who decides how to spent it. Truly, even an illiterate slum woman knows how to manage finances. It is this SPIRIT of a Homemaker which is celebrated today. It is called KO JAGORI , because the Spirit of Goddess Laxmi moves in the night and asks WHO IS AWAKE ? KE JAGORE. It is a night of singing , dancing and feasting, marking the end of the Navaratri Festival . ENJOY
