Today is SOAP DAY! Im going to tell you all about our soap. This little venture started out with soap, and spun out of control from there. I learned in the summer of 2007, another soap maker invited me to her home to learn how and we made a batch of unscented soap with Crisco, coconut oil, and olive oil. Then the research started. Over the years our recipe changed some but has continues to be soy based until recently. When I started making soap people did not like animal products in their soap (but im sure they were still eating bacon) Now that there is so much concern over GMOs and pesticides we are changing one ingredient in our soap. We are now using lard. Lard comes from pigs and is used in baking, and frying. Even if you are not using lard at home, if you eat out at restaurants, or get cakes from a bakery you are either getting Soy, or Lard. These have very similar baking properties as well as very similar properties in soap. We also use Olive oil, Coconut Oil and Castor Bean Oil. Olive oil makes the bar slippery (and that is why the Castile bar feels the way that it does) Coconut oil and Castor Bean help with lather, and then the coconut helps keep the skin soft and supple. Lard and Soy both are conditioning and moisturizing. And of course these ingredients together make a great bar to clean your skin! If you havent tried our soap yet, please do. They arent just for looking pretty on the counter, or putting in a drawer to scent your clothes. Please use them on your skin, and then come back and get more. If you dont love it, I want to know about it! Our soap last at least twice as long as the commercial soap you use. If you are using body wash, please read the ingredients list. Our bars are BIG 5.6 - ounces, and long lasting. They are Mild, Conditioning, and Moisturizing. They feel silky, and will leave your skin soft and supple. Dont forget to enter our giveaway for the Holiday soap set! It ends October 31st! breezyquarters
