Today is Transformation Tuesday! This week we are featuring Merrick! Merrick is a gorgeous 3-4 year old, 70 lb German Shepard with an amazing transformation story! Merrick first came to the shelter on 04/08/14 as a neglect case. As his intake picture clearly shows, Merricks skin infections were so bad that he was nearly bald! His skin problems originated with a flea infestation and then turned into bacterial and yeast infections. After 6 weeks of love and careful treatment by the Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society, Merrick looks like a totally different dog! Now that he is fully recovered, Merrick is ready to find his forever home! Because of his condition, Merrick will require a grain-free diet with fish oil supplements to maintain his skin and coat health, with regular vet check ups to make sure he staying healthy and flea free. Merrick is a staff favorite at the shelter and spends his days in the office and wandering the shelter grounds. He is a very good listener and knows what his boundaries are. He does not tear things up or get into things while the staff are away. He is house trained and loves other dogs and kids of all ages. Merrick also loves chasing cats, however, so a cat-free home may be best for him. Merrick is an incredible, loving boy who deserves a wonderful, loving home.
