Today is UN International Peace Day- a day to consider and to seek the peace of the nations. Peace however is elusive- whether we consider the violence of war, the extremism of groups like Boko Haram or ISIS, domestic abuse, human trafficking, pestilence and diseases like Ebola and AIDS, racial and ethnic division and tensions, or the trauma of depression and strained identities. Peace is not something we seek, but rather a person. Blessed are the Peace-seekers, the peacemakers. Until Shalom we struggle, but for the grace of the Prince of Peace.
