Today is World Head Injury Awareness Day. It is here to remind us to be conscious of how we could reduce accidents and brain injuries. This day raises awareness around mild concussion to severe brain injuries. Concussions are more common among males than females. The most brain injuries occur in males between ages 16 and 24. Some signs and symptoms, to help assist you and your family to make informed decisions regarding your health after a head injury incident: Immediate consequences of concussions include blurred vision, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, or unconsciousness. Headaches – continuous or sudden change in pain level Dizziness Slurred speech Confusion or disorientation Loss of balance or weakness in the limbs Neck stiffness Increased drowsiness or unconsciousness Difficulty in waking from sleep Make sure you keep you and your family in check and visit your local clinic if a head injury has been sustained.
