Today is Zanes official birthday. 12th to be exact. In the next year or two, some unusual things will start to happen. 1) I will lose all my intelligence and wont know anything. My smarts wont return for about 10 years. 2) My car will no longer travel all the way to school or friends homes. Zane will develop in interest in walking (that last block, anyways) 3) He will still want to go to car shows ....but maybe not with his Dad. 4) His vocabulary will shrink. Most of our questions will be answered with 1-2 word answers starting sometime in the next year or so. 5) Hair and clothes will make or break a day. 6) Everything David and I say in the presence of Zanes friends will be embarrassing. 7) He will want me to change clothes or try to look normal before his friends come over, and will start looking at us like we are aliens. 8) I will no longer hear vivid accounts of his dreams in the morning at breakfast. 9) There will be a chronic shortage of food for the next several years. 10) When going places with us, he will either want to sit in the car and wait, or stay 6 feet away so as not to look like he is with us. 11) He will develop strange body twitches such as eye rolling and shoulder shrugging. 12) he will spend most of his time in his room and will only come out to eat, or leave. So, I will enjoy this last year or two of Young Zane and brace myself for whats coming. Childhood is so fleeting....
