Today is a Triple blessing. It is the eighth day of Christmas, - TopicsExpress

Today is a Triple blessing. It is the eighth day of Christmas, but it is also the first day of the New Year. But even more important than both of those, today we honor Mary, the Mother of God, Jesus. How appropriate are these three together.... First...Eighth Day of Christmas....eight maids a milking.....A symbol of the new Covenant born in Jesus...the new Covenant being the 8 Beatitudes. What more is there that teaches us about the love of God.... Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of God. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The New Year.... Grand Father always said...Be sure to take a brand new one. No pick up on one filled with old grudges, old pain, old doubts, old sour thoughts...take a new year with all its hopes and dreams that will make you a better person, a person that God wants you to be. To Honor Mary, Gods Mother, .... Eight days after a birth is the time for the circumcision. And so it would be. But in the process, in those days One to Eight...it was a sort of busy time....shepherds coming and going, people visiting the babe born in the stable. I would imagine that some of the local women hearing about the young girl who gave birth in the stable were probably fussing and helping her, just of the goodness of their hearts. .... Of their hearts.... and Mary....And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Jesus was the center of her heart...as any child would be for a new mother, but then this child was special, had attracked some attention, had been conceived by the Holy Spirit.... And Mary prayed on all of this, and kept it close to her heart. We need to do the same. Jesus needs to be the center of our hearts...not MSU who is playing at 12:30...not any other of the bowl games, not the Rose Bowl parade....Jesus. He is the center. Happy New Year and blessings.....Merry Christmas too.
