Today is a VERY SPECIAL day! Our daughter was born on the 22nd of December in 1992. Today, she is 22 years old. Her mother Lisa Mills Owens was also born on the 22nd in September. Brenna Owens was EXTREMELY close to my mother, having spent many weekends and summer weeks for several years with her in Wilson. I am thankful that they developed such a bond, a two peas in a pod type of loving relationship. Although my parents were taking care of our Brenna while we were working, the relationship turned to the point where Brenna was actually taking care of my parents and serving them.... and loving every minute of it. My mother was suffering from dementia in her final years and with all the struggles that come with that disease, Brenna never waivered or faltered in dealing with my mom, always respecting and honoring her and treating her like a queen. BTW, the exact same can be said of my wife, Lisa, which also BTW was moms favorite child. My mother died on Brennas birthday, December 22, 2010, forever creating a similarity, a commonality with her granddaughter that could never be changed. I think mom chose to die on the 22nd. I also think that Brennas desire to study gerontology, to make a profession out of serving and treating those of our senior population has its foundation in her relationship with my parents during her formative years. Brenna is a most beautiful young woman with exceptional care for others and compassion for all! She is an outstanding student at ECU! She has impacted SOOOOOOO many lives already and will continue to do so in the future! She is absolutely amazing! With all of the love that any father could muster up for their daughter, I want to say I love you, I thank God for you and Happy Birthday!
