Today is a big day for Reed! Its obvious that Reed has a lot of physical limitations and issues with weakness and pain. More than most tripawds. Reed goes to physical therapy 3 times a week where he receives acupuncture, shockwave therapy, laser therapy and varieties of physical therapy. Reed has issues with his hip and knee (as well as shoulders and spine), that we are constantly working to combat. In these photos, you can see how far his knee is pushed every day. Today at Animal Acupuncture, Reed was fitted for a orthotic brace from OrthoPets: Orthotics and Prosthetics for Animals! It was a prothetic that was used for a shepherd before he passed away a few years ago. The brace was custom fitted to the dog. When the brace was placed on Reed, it fit like a glove. And it turns out, the brace was from a dog that belonged to friends and adopters of ours, from several years ago. Everything happens for a reason, and the odds of this happening were nearly impossible! This is going to be a long process to teach him how to walk with this support, while managing the soreness that comes with new exercises. We are so excited!
