Today is a big day for the Wilmongton Wildcats who play in the 3A Championship game at U of I. Derek Kirchner is a wonderful young man who has had to overcome a great deal of adversity and through that adversity has come great success. If you watch any of that game you will notice #52 on both offense, defense and oh by the way he is their punter as well. I am so happry for this young man and his dad, who exemplifies the never give up mentallity. Derek had to for family reasons transfer from Providence to Wilmington. Coach Cogs has been so wonderful to this young man and so has his former teammates. The Providence players have attended his games as their schedule would allow them to.. Having met cogs for the first time a few months back, I became a fan of the person as well as the coach..he as well as coach Z, Ernie and George share the one coaching gift that made Vince Lombardi the success he was..coach lombardi simply said Build for your team a feeling of oneness, of dependence upon one another and of strength to be derived by unity. I know the hardships that this young man has fought through and I know I will be joing the entire Providence team in pulling for Derek tonight when they kick off aound 4:30 in pursuit oif the 3A title. Enjoy your Black Friday and be safe..AND put all of your bags in your TRUNK not the back seat so I wont have to hear from you tomorrow about the smash and grab you had to deal with.
