Today is a bittersweet day for me. As most of you know I had gastric bypass surgery last December, and have lost over 100 lbs. since then. When our mother passed, and we cleaned out her closet, I saved some of her clothes in anticipation of my weightloss. Since she was smaller than me I knew Id have a wardrobe of smaller sizes to wear on my journey. Every skirt, every blouse, every pair of pants of hers that I shrunk into and then out of, I could feel her holding my hand and cheering me on. As I shrunk out of each size, I made a promise to myself to donate them on. I dont want to go backwards, and I know my mom would want to bless another woman with nice clothes that they could feel good in. Well, Ive shrunk out of them all, and Im cleaning out my closet today. Im proud of myself for my hard work, but its like saying goodbye all over again. Im sure some may say, Well then keep them. Keep one blouse to remember her by. I know my mom. That would keep me connected to her, and she wants me to let go of her hand and cling on to the Lord for my comfort. I have her hat, and a scarf I made for her, not to forget the quilts I made for myself and my family out of her other clothes. They are all warm hugs and hellos from her when I need them. I just want to say thanks Mom for holding my hand through this journey. I know youre still here with me. Please bless the women with your prayers who receive your clothes. Love, your Patricia
