Today is a blue day for our family. Today would have been Lee Ann - TopicsExpress

Today is a blue day for our family. Today would have been Lee Ann Meyers birthday. Lee Ann lost her battle with schleroderma after fighting it valiantly for thirty years. Shes been gone since August, 2013. Jack has been quiet and sad since yesterday. Im sure Joanne Meyer Bluman and Josh are also missing their big sister. Lee Ann was an EXCEPTIONAL person. Her compassion, intelligence, and extraordinary strength of spirit is so missed but I see it in her family and in her friends who were so inspired by her. Despite the horrible ravages of this awful autoimmune disease she is an example of a life well lived. We still get her forwarded mail. There are so many charitable organizations she supported. The mail we get is not from one of those lists that charities sell to other charities so those charities can ask for support too. They are the real charities she did support and they are so diverse; civil rights, animal welfare, education, the arts, care for those in third world countries, and more. She had an open heart. She really was so amazing. Of course she also gave to Schleroderma research which is shockingly underfunded because it isnt a fancy disease...I hope everyone will educate themselves of this sad disease and maybe make a donation to the Schleroderma Foundation. OH MY GOD, I JUST thought of the perfect birthday gift for Lee Ann even though shes gone. Im going to make a tradition right now for Jack and me to give a donation to the Schleroderma Foundation every year on her birthday. I just know she would appreciate it so much. Maybe it will lift Jacks heart also. Im also going to copy and paste what I wrote last year because I want us all to be reminded of who she was. i think all the beautiful sunsets we have seen this week are her.... In Memorium Absolutely no words good enough for Lee Ann Meyer. I loved her and always will. She was one of the most interesting, bright and compassionate people I have ever known. We laughed and cried throughout the lives of her three dogs; Molly, Boomer, and now Sophie for over twenty years. Sophie will be safe Lee Ann. I promise you. Lee Anns eyes were the same beautiful blue of Jacks eyes and I know that Jack learned much of how to live a life of courage, of dignity, of integrity, and of plain old goodness from his big sister. I know I will see you again Lee Ann and well lay on the grass and talk about dogs and books and civil rights and so much more. As a friend beautifully said today; Lee Ann will paint the most beautiful sunset tonight.
