Today is a great reminder to not to take our safety and liberty lightly. Were not Switzerland. Were our own piece of land mass tickling Putins borders with more fresh water and resources than many continents combined. The irony that the poor soldier was shot on what shouldve been the easiest patrol job in the world in front of a memorial that symbolized our fight for peace...is not an easy one to swallow. No one wants to go to war...but as a peaceful nation who is built on equality and fairness...and relies heavily on our greatest ally for safety...it is our duty to question and oppose those who show no mercy in brutally sacrificing (sometimes violently) the lives of innocent men, women, and children...in the name of an ideology...whatever that ideology is (and that goes for looking at ourselves too). We are truly a free nation. We do not accept radical ideas now as a way to govern...and we made a conscious effort and fought wars so we didnt become Nazi Germany, Communist Russia/China, or Sharia law middle east. Make no mistake, ISIS wants a Caliphate and they believe suffrage brings them closer to God...and we have decided as a nation a long time ago that that will not happen here. There are hard and uncomfortable questions ahead of how we handle this...but savage lone wolf attacks have increased greatly on our own soil and in America and dozens of terrorist plots have already been thwarted.
