Today is a mile stone I have long dreaded. It marks 10 long, agonizing months since my precious father, my hero, and best friend went to be with Jesus. How life hurts in his absence. The very concept of time hurts. Each passing day, week, month, and soon if the Lord tarries, year that passes feel like a dagger to the heart. It almost feels like a betrayal to his memory, an insult to his legacy, that life still rolls on without him, as if he isnt missed. But as we have endured these painful months, and by Gods grace slowly move forward, not leaving him behind, but taking his memory and all that he taught us along as we look ahead and press on toward the mark, each mile stone of time proves evidence of a faithful Savior and a loving Father. 10 months ago I couldnt imagine where I would be or how our lives would look without our leader and friend, and it seemed impossible to survive that long. But His word has been proven true, He is faithful that promised (Heb.10:23) and though our lives are forever changed by the gapping hole daddy left, there is One that thing that remains the same as He has promised I am the Lord, I change not (Mal.3:6) The One who is steadfast, unmoving, and constant has drawn near in a way that could never be seen or experienced without loss and I have seen His might and power in ways I never imagined. He has greeted us with mercies that are new every morning and lead us as a loving Shepherd leads His sheep through each day, He doesnt despise our broken hearts, and hears each plea that falls from our quivering lips and dry our constant tears that fall. We all have aches and pains that break us in this life, trials that bring us to our wits end and cause us even to despair, but may we each learn to draw near and trust Him more as we taste and see that the Lord is good (Ps34:8) when our souls are hungry and desolate, and may we rejoice in knowing as for God His way is perfect, the word of the Lord is proved, He is a shield to all those who put their trust in Him. Ps.30:18
