Today is a perfect day to reflect on the progress Monticello has made over the last three years, and the success our community can celebrate when City Hall understands how economic development works. Quality, high paying jobs are a real need in our region. For the past three years, Mayor Maxwell worked with MEDC to renew our city’s economic development recruitment model to one that successfully attracts new industries while still supporting local existing small business and manufacturers. As result of the efforts of a Mayor that understood economic development, today Governor Mike Beebe joins MEDC to celebrate the first industry recruitment announcement in Monticello in almost 40 years. Today is not the last announcement either; currently MEDC has several other prospects that are just as interested in relocating to Monticello as today’s industry has been. Monticello is on verge of some great growth and progress. We need strong leadership, now more than ever, to ensure our economic development success is not in vain. We need a Mayor, like Mayor Maxwell, than understands economic development and works with MEDC to build the relationships to attract new industry and new jobs. I am the only candidate on the ballot with an actual economic development plan for the future of Monticello and the candidate with actual experience in successful economic development. I want be back in City Hall to put that experience to good work for Monticello; and thats just one reason I am running for Mayor.
