Today is a perfect example of why I have a hard time answering - TopicsExpress

Today is a perfect example of why I have a hard time answering people when they ask what our plans are when they are more than 1 hour later than that exact moment.... We were all packed up and ready to go home as planned this morning when, even after the transfusion last night, her Hgb levels were only 6.2 and her platelets went down to 8. So, here we are, still up in the penthouse and enjoying our view of the hospital in which Kiley was born almost 6 years ago. She just finished getting pre-meds, and the agenda from now includes getting a transfusion of platelets, (takes 1 hour or so), a dose of Flagyl, (takes about 20 minutes), and then whenever the blood is ready she will get her next transfusion on blood/Hgb, (takes around 4 hours). Frustrating? Maybe a little bit. But, on the bright side I am so glad that with counts like that we did not go home this morning and just end up in the ER tonight or back here getting accessed tomorrow. Makes me thankful for our awesome nurse, Sarah, who is always on top of her game! So if you ask me what we are doing tomorrow, or even later today, I have no idea. However, I do know that Kiley and I will continue to hold Cora hostage up here to enjoy quality time with us until she begs me to leave! :)
