Today is a sad day. The first thing I recalled when I heard about - TopicsExpress

Today is a sad day. The first thing I recalled when I heard about the Peshawar attack was my school going experience: my mother waking me up, helping me get ready for school, sending me off, waiting in the balcony to ensure I had boarded the school bus, starting to patiently await my arrival. When I would get home, I could see the sparkle in her eyes, “a gaya beta?” as we would hug in the kitchen where she prepared food for me. I try to empathize with the ~132 mothers. Hearts that may never be mended. Pain that may never go way. Instances that will be recreated – I wish I had asked him to stay home just today. ~132 mothers have lost their purpose, the sparkle of their eyes. ~132 families have been left incomplete, never to live the same way. Thousands and millions are shaken. Let this be a reminder of our gravest issue – terrorism, extremism breeding at home. Product of the west, product of the east… Islam is the answer, my religion has been completed… I am better than you, your country has infiltrated my nation’s policies… whatever the “truth” may be, one thing I’m certain of is that the enemy is in our home. Let this be a rude awakening to Pakistani, Afghani, international military policies that something is NOT working. No time to blame each other but to unite as humans, for love. No religion, no nationality – pure humanity, pure love. I feel crippled, handicapped. I am even struggling to grieve. I would like to request YOUR help. If possible, please comment below to help me identify ways we, as Pakistanis, as citizens of the world, living in Pakistan or abroad, can address this issue.
