Today is a sad day for Hong Kong but also a day we ought to be - TopicsExpress

Today is a sad day for Hong Kong but also a day we ought to be proud of ourselves. We are sad because our government chose not listening to peoples voice but to oppress them with tear gas and pepper spray. But we ought to be proud of ourselves because 1) we showed those in authority that we care, we are willing to put public interest on top of personal interest, and we are not afraid to speak up; 2) though we dont do this often, but we showed the world a perfect example how to conduct a non-violent demonstration - you cant find a more orderly place on HK Island or anywhere in the world today then the grounds surrounding the government headquarter where the protesters gathered for a good part of the week. Even with the chaos provoked by the police force afterwards, not a single car was burned, not a single shop window was wrecked, not a single police officer was beaten. Those who thought the protesters were radical and not peaceful obviously were blind and deaf or just ignorant. This is the beginning of a new era. Keep the spirit of fighting on and we just have to believe light is not far away.
