Today is graduation day at Natchitoches Central High School. A day that was 18 years in the making. Paul Gordon has had so many great friends and role models to help him along the way. Thanks especially goes to his brother in law, Micah Nicholson and his sister, Megan Nicholson who have loved him, prayed for him, and laughed with him. Thanks go to people there from the beginning -- Scott Shaver, Helen Mixon Antilley, and all those folks at First Baptist Natchitoches who blessed his life. There are the Scout leaders who taught him his love for nature -- Danny Wisher, Kevin Shannahan, Diane Chatelain, Mike Chatelain, John Brewer, and more. Then there are the men of Emmanuel Baptist who have loved him like a son -- Jay Bolen, Larry Taylor, Lee Weems, Jerry Cauley, Greg Carroll. My Sunday school class deserves awards for listening to my hoped and dreams, fears and worries for Paul all these years -- thank you to Linda Gilbert McKee and the ladies of my class. There are many, many more that I should thank -- neighbors like Betty Durham, Harriette Palmer...There are the brothers -- Terry Leone, Tee Jaye , and Jorge Rodriguez.Theres the General -- Lane Killen. I especially thank my husband, Vade Gordon, for putting up with the battles at home. WE have all done our best and now Paul will do his best. It truly takes a village to raise a child.
