Today is, in my mind, hopefully the start of a new chapter in working relations between the Migrant Worker Rights Network (MWRN) and the Thai Food Processors Association (TFPA), Thai Frozen Foods Assocaition (TFFA) and the Thai Tuna Industry Association (TTIA) as we bring together as a joint concept programme 15 Myanmar workers and 15 Thai employer representatives to learn from one another regarding challenges of migrant workers and how to work together to bring positive change. Took a few years to make this interactive workshop happen, but really happy that in the end it happened. Without both migrants and Thais working positively together, with total equality, positive change can never occur. I hope the next 2 days workshop is the start of working together with mutual respect and understanding and that both Thais and migrants can really learn from one another about the real situation of migrant workers in Thailand. Once the real situation and real feelings are understand amongst migrants and Thais, I am confident that positive change can indeed start to take place in the future
