Today is like a talk I would give to my crew. We get so caught up in Designer brand names. Where in the world things come from. We worry about pleasing our neighbors or friends so much that we miss the simple things in life! Our cultures, our roots, our surroundings, etc. They all hint of earthly tones, clay, sands, dirt, plants, mountains, materials around us everyday. So...Today lets celebrate our own cultures, Get out of the house this weekend, go Garage sale hunting, Flea Market Hunting, old side street shops, go into you attics, basements and find those items which were made with love, reflect the colors and patterns of who and what you are. From the different tribal patterns from around the world, to different patching, knitting and knotting techniques. From the sand of the middle east to the mountains of Japan, to the old cottages in the Icelandic countries to the American Indians. Add some pastels, tribal patterns, natural hand made materials to your beds and sofas. This is a universal Zen! Go back to some of the basic to design a few rooms in your home or Condos or Townhouse or apartments. And, heres the best part of it all. Great handmade materials last a long , long time. I know. I still have my one hand knitted blanket that my Grandmother made me when I was a little boy. At 51, I still use it , especially when I am sick ; )
