Today is my Mom’s first birthday in Heaven. Her birthday is right after my Dad’s and it was always fun to celebrate them so close together. With their birthdays within the same week and all the family at Katie and Joey’s wedding this weekend, I have missed Mom and Dad tremendously. I take great comfort in all that my Mom taught me. She taught me to be an Adventurer and to know there was nothing I could not do. She taught me how to balance home and work. Like me, she was a Mom who worked outside the home. LOL…On that same note, she taught me how to open the fridge and my cupboards and make a great meal out of nothing. She also taught me a love of baking and home and that family and friends are what make life worth living. Most of all, Mom taught me my faith. Her best bits of wisdom on faith were not in her words, but in her actions…the way she chose to live her life. We prayed together all the time. It is still so new since Mom changed her address to Heaven. I miss my Mom so much that at times it is almost physically painful. Then as if on cue, a gentle Peace of Spirit comes over me that says she and Dad are right there with me…Always in my heart… So Happy Birthday in Heaven, Mom! I miss you so much, but I know I will see you again in Heaven and we will light some candles, bake some cookies, have our Twinkie and our raspberry tea and all the Angels will rejoice and eat cookies. :) :) “To love and be loved by your Mom and Dad is like feeling the sun from both sides….
