Today is my last official day as an Active Duty Soldier. I hit the retired list tomorrow. (I was medically retired back in June and have been on Terminal Leave for the last 40 days.) I find this harder to write than I thought it would be as Im sitting here at DEERS about to exchange my Active Duty ID for my Retiree ID I have a lot of time to think back. I can honestly say that this journey that started on 01 September 2005 has been the greatest, hardest, most emotional, infuriating, rewarding thing that I have ever done and, most likely, will ever do. I cant begin to thank all of the friends, peers, leaders, subordinates, students and others that have influenced me through this time because I could never remember them all. I can only hope that I left more of them better for having known me than not. I guess thats all you can hope for when it comes to doing anything. For those of you that I served with and for those that continue to serve I say Thank You. My journey of 8 years 11 months and 9 days through 4 continents, 2 wars and helping to build 2 Combat Brigades comes to an end now. So for the last time SSG Deromedi... Out
