Today is my mothers birthday. So Id like to say Happy Birthday! Its kind of hard to be happy or even joyful on days like these. All there seems to be is grief and sadness. But I guess that is the point. The more I feel these emotions the more my love feels justified for her. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted Matthew 5:4 I look at it like this, to mourn means that something or someone that mattered must have been lost. So are am blessed because we have those that matter. And that we are comforted because we know they mattered. So the sadness, the anger, the frustration, the hurt, and the pain can be comforted by the feeling and emotion that is the underline of it all: Gratitude. Grateful because we have those who matter. I am grateful for my mother. I am grateful for who she was and all that she had to go through in order to be the person she was and the person she still is to me. She mattered to me. Although it is sometimes hard to be happy and joyful, I am comforted because of the gratitude I have for my mother. And with that Gratitude comes Love. I am grateful because she is 55 today. Thanks to those who matter to me. I am grateful for you all. P.S. Dont tell her I told you her age, she hates that :)
