Today is my son Andys 27th birthday. I am so very proud of him. He is in the beginning of a one year intensive program at the U of M where he will be earning 3 masters degrees in teaching. The most amazing thing is that he is scheduled to student teach in the fall at the exact inner city school in Mpls that I taught in for 12 years! It is also on this special day that I am publicly announcing my breast cancer diagnosis that I received the morning of July 30. It was found quite by accident, and early, when tissue from my July 22 surgery was sent to the path lab. My immediate plan is a double mastectomy next week, but future appointments and biopsies could alter that. So my new journey begins. Because I need to concentrate on getting well, I will be saying good bye to Facebook for the immediate future. Blessings and happiness to all of you.
