Today is one Ive dreaded, but knew was coming sooner rather than later: I helped my sweet little Celeste kitty over the Rainbow Bridge, after 19 1/2 years together. She was my special girl: feisty, energetic - even at her ripe old age - and loving, and I already miss her terribly. In recent years shed been a one-person kitty and I was that person, to the dismay of my family and friends who tried so hard to befriend her! No one but Mom would do, though in recent months shed begun to mellow a little. She had multiple medical problems but I learned last night she was in final stage renal failure and what little time she might have left could be terrible for her. I prayed, cried & soul searched and decided to let her go today, and Im so grateful to God for giving me the courage to do it now. My little girl went with spirit and dignity and Im very grateful to my friend Debra McCrum, who also was her catsitter, for being there with me. My sincere thanks as well to Dr. Lonam at Village Veterinary Clinic for helping me understand the gift I was giving Celeste and sending her very gently over the bridge today. I loved this little one with all my heart and know the memories of wonderful times together will bring healing along with the tears. Rest well, my sweet, sweet Celeste.
