Today is one of the roughest and most joyful of the year. 14 years - TopicsExpress

Today is one of the roughest and most joyful of the year. 14 years ago, the Johnson household awoke to the news that their oldest son and brother, Jessie James Johnson, had passed in the early morning hours. Although I wasnt family yet- I experienced the greatest gathering as family came from as far as Connecticut to mourn and comfort each other. You know how some sounds never leave your psyche? The sound of Russ and Sandy on the phone is one of those. The cries of a mother and father losing their son so unexpectedly is unforgettable. Today I was honored when I sang at Bob and Rolindas daughter, Lizzys, funeral. She was 33, and a ray of sunlight to them. Her smile reminded me of my Mordecai, and my heart aches for the losos those two are experiencing. To care for someone daily and to be done would be dreadfully hard- I was reminded we lost Paulie Venturella at 33 as well- on Palm Sunday! This sounds like a horribly dreadful post, but Im reminded of what Michelle Oldham always strived to do on New Years Eve- gather family together and make it a joyous fun occasion! We might play some Balderdash if everyone was game! (What a hoot that was, huh April Rose Johnson) Be blessed in the coming year by the presence of your friends and family. We are not guaranteed one minute, so cherish those you love- hold them close, and cling to Jesus even tighter- that way when this life is done, well see each other in eternity!! Blessings to you all in the New Year! May you draw nearer to God and His truth.
