Today is such a big day for us. Out of hundreds of hopeful applicants and after a stringent selection process, weve hand-picked 18 remarkable township tradesmen to come onto our 18 month training & development Business Builders programme, a partnership with The Business Place. Our planned celebratory boat trip to Robben Island has been postponed due to bad weather but were going ahead with the rest of proceedings including a surprise guest appearance by Luvuyo Rani of Silulo Ulutho Technologies (an inspiring entrepreneur who started small in Khayelitsha and who now runs a successful company with 24 branches nationwide) who will be presenting the guys with certificates officially welcoming them onto the programme and talking to them about how to break through the barriers to financial independence - he is living proof of how your success is more dependent on your attitude than the economic situation you are born into. Working on a Saturday is a pleasure and privilege when surrounded by a group of remarkable individuals who just get on and do it, regardless of the obstacles in their paths.
