Today is the 17th anniversary of my gift of life. In 1997 I received a life saving liver transplant at Cleveland Clinic. This day is however not a celebration for an organ recipient, it’s a celebration of the true heroes of organ and tissue donation, the donors and their families. But every day people die because there are just not enough donor organs to go around. Like the saying goes, “don’t take your organs to heaven, heaven knows we need them here”.
