Today is the 20th anniversary of my coming back to life when I woke up in I.C.U. after an attack as I slept in my college dorm room. Id gone off to school to study environmental sciences with the intention to save the world as I recollect, and man was I humbled by my own helpless and hopeless mindset. I became angry, not at the man who plunged a knife into my flesh, rather at what I then understood to be God, as some separate entity from me orchestrating the events of my life. How could YOU let this happen to me? I was a frightened little boy surrounded by the support of family and friends as my wounds healed in time to celebrate Christmas at home. So here I am today fighting the good fight as I practice response ability for my thoughts and feelings, learning to love in spite of the fear and shining a light into the dark corners liberating that which has been imprisoned for generations. Its been said the pen is mightier than the sword, and yet there are times when our words cut deep as we awaken and shake loose from the karmic debris. We draw lines in the sand separating us from them and in so doing perpetuate the illusion of our fear. I guess Ive got some unfinished business as I continue this human journey with yall.
