Today is the 25th anniversary of my mothers crossing into spirit. It came as a bit of a shock actually. Not that today is the anniversary, but that it is 25 years. Thats a long time. I cant say that it seems like yesterday, though it does remain fresh in my mind. But I am surprised to realize that it has actually been a quarter of a century. As I was 26 when she passed, this will be the last year that the number of years that she was physically present in my life are greater than the number of years that she has been in spirit. Of course I talk to her all the time, and she talks back -to me and to many other people- but it is different to have a relationship across the worlds as opposed to being in the same world. Life is an interesting journey, and it is often said that change is the only constant -but what we carry forward with us in terms of memories, influences, and spiritual bonds have a constancy as well, sometimes carrying through many lifetimes. I generally feel that the feast of an Ancestor should be connected to the day of their birth rather than the day of their death, and I normally honor my mother on November 25th. However, I cant help but remember this anniversary as well, and have honored and spoken with her today. Beloved Mother, may you be blessed today and every day. correllian/laveda.htm
