Today is the 7th anniversary of the most traumatic experience of my entire life.. Still haunts me today!! I had a blotched laparoscopic hysterectomy on the 15th.. After the surgery I noticed a huge bruise on my hip of course the doctor was majorly concerned.. Asking me where it came from.. Really, I didnt have it before surgery.. Two days later I woke up screaming in the middle of the night so my daughter took me back to the hospital.. Ended up with a bacteria and an abscess in my stomach.. A different surgeon had to cut me completely open to clean me out.. Had a drain tube (that never drained).. Was on morphine for almost two weeks.. Lost over 25lbs.. Blood work off the chart the entire time... No breathing treatments.. She accidentally ordered my IV to be taken off (the nurse told a diff doctor and she refused to listen to her.. told her to do as ordered).. Was off for 3 days b4 the first doctor noticed... Yes, my doctor sent me home after a two week stay. I couldnt even hold my head up.. Abt passed out in the parking lot of the professional building where she sent me to keep a check on my blood work. My Aunt Wanda and Kathy came by my house to check on me.. My Aunt immediately made me go to Dr. Phillips who said I was sepsis.. And ordered me to St. Vincent.. After I got there they removed my drain tube (that was put in the wrong spot).. Gave me breathing treatments.. Bags and bags of Antibiotics.. I had a week stay there.. Thank God for Dr. Phillips and my Aunt Wanda or I wouldnt be here.. Thank God for my daughter, sister, some of my close friends for all of their help. Courtney went to school full time, worked part-time and spent almost every night with me here and in LR. Renee and Jackie covered to give her a break a couple of times. Thank God for all the awesome NURSES at JRMC and St. Vincent.. The doctor here ended up not charging my insurance and wrote my entire bill off... Hummmm you think she did something wrong?? In the papers it stated she couldnt see so she had to roll me over.. My thoughts have always been.. I was knocked off the table trying to roll me over. I never received and apology or an explanation on anything from her. My biggest memory (bc most of it was a blur due to morphine) of that experience was when the doc finally told me I could eat solid foods but forgot to write it on my chart.. I called Renee crying and she and Sam left PB immediately to bring me a burger to LR. :) You could def feel all the love from my family, friends and co-workers during that time.
