Today is the 90th birthday of F. Sionil Jose, National Artist for Literature. He once attended journalism classes at the then UST Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (renamed in 1964 as Arts and Letters) and has taught Literature at the UST Graduate School. Sionil Jose’s writings since the late 60s, when taken collectively can best be described as epic. Its sheer volume puts him on the forefront of Philippine writing in English.
