Today is the Birthday of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. We all proudly remember this heroic son of India for his role during the Partition. A veteran of World War II , he played a leading role in the wars against Pakistan and led the Indian Army in the 1971 war against Pakistan. The liberation of Bangladesh was the high-point of his illustrious career. He became a household name in India after this resounding victory. Born in the holy city of Amritsar, his patriotism, bravery and war planning and strategy is the stuff that legends are made of. On this day, let us all be inspired by his life and achievements to work for our country without fear and defend our nation at all costs.
