Today is the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival, a time for family - TopicsExpress

Today is the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival, a time for family reunion and moon cake sharing. The moon that shines so brightly tonight reminds me of this Ci written by Su Shi in 1076AD. Id like to share this translation with you, hoping it could render his melancholy and insights towards life.:) Shui Diao Ge Tou Su Shi When will the moonlight cast? I ask the sky, holding my wine-cup Unknown is the time up above, Palace and dwellings, are they the same as us? I long to be there, riding the wind But mansions of jade, high as they are, Its bitter cold there That I couldnt bear Dance with the shadows my company, I ascended To the paradise I longed. Over the embellished chambers Pass the flamboyant fences The moonlight, O so bright Cast on the sleeplessbedside Dont you sigh, my Luna In separation your roundness lies People feel happy People feel sad Sometimes they reunite And Other times, part As the moon may wax or wane, bright or dim Perfection, in eternity, is a dream yet to realize Ah, my friend, I take this chance To wish you safe and sound Together we prize her tender glance Across thousand miles of ground.
